Jonas Pettersson

Biography

I'm a Swedish artist working across music composition, watercolor painting, analog photo, electronics and digital performance. I grew up surrounded by art — my father studied engraving at the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm and my mother was a photographer. They took us to exhibitions and openings before we could walk, so creativity was never a choice — it was simply how life worked.

I'm always looking for what lies beyond the edges of what I'm currently working on. I've built a remotely controlled pipe organ in Australia, created a painting robot that was exhibited at the Nordic Watercolour Museum, grown my own paper from bacterial cellulose, and developed interactive works using thermochromatic pigments and electronics that respond to the viewer's presence.

My philosophy is simple: don't be afraid to try something new — even if it doesn't look right the first time. Just do it.
